Four basic rights

When It Comes To Safety, Ask Questions

Employers are required to provide workers with workplace orientations about the hazards, safety
requirements and evacuation procedures of every workplace they enter on behalf of that employer.

Four basic rights are entrenched in the legislation. You have a right to:

  • refuse unsafe work
  • participate in workplace safety activities
  • know about workplace safety and health hazards
  • be free of reprisals (discrimination) for your use of these rights
